AKG C61
The AKG C61 is one of the lesser known greatest microphones of all time. It is effectively a tube version of the AKG 451 with the same CK1 capsule. The tube adds both a smoothing quality and a musical air lift at the same time. I am not 100% certain but I am pretty sure the acoustic guitar on "Ventura Highway" by America is this sound. These are a secret weapon on acoustic, snare, drum overheads, piano, strings and more. Just as much of a workhorse as the 451 but with more mojo.
